A stadium was built here to host the 1936 Olympics which was cancelled due to the 1936 Spanish CIvil War. The arena was refurbished for the 1992 Olympics. Entry is free for visitors and there is a nice little cafe where one can sit with a view over the arena and try to remember the heroic events that transpired here.
