The museum has, they say, the greatest display of Romanesque (8th - 13th century) items in the world. These frescos have been taken from 12th century Catalan churches in the Pyrenees. It is astounding that they have recreated the interiors of several churches from the12th century and removed the crumbling plaster from the original church and reinstalled it as it was in the new purpose built full scale models. While the technical virtuosity of the process is in itself amazing, the final result is even more stunning, given the luminous colours and quality of the original artworks.
